Cove is located on the eastern edge of the Grande Ronde Valley in Union County, Oregon. The town is nestled between the nearby Wallowa Mountains and adjacent ridges.  If you are looking for a home on small acreage properties, the Cove area has predominantly the most R-2 zone for small acres.  The R-2 zone has a minimum of 2 acres parcels.   You can also find smaller cattle ranches in the area.  Cove has had a strong history and tradition of there Cherri Orchards.  The land that the community is built on has a gradual slope that offers great conditions for fruit trees.

Elgin, Union County´s northernmost city, is nestled against the Wallowa Mountains on the banks of the Grande Ronde RiverElgin has a rich history of manufacturing lumber.  Elgin at one time a large number of sawmills that were located deep in the timbered areas.  Over the years as the transportation systems improved, those mills slowing became absolute.  Some of these mills consolidated to become more efficient and some just shut down.  Today the community is home to Boise Cascade Corporation who has a large number of employees working in the studmill and the plywood plant.  They are one of the largest employers in the county.  Elgin is also home to the Elgin Stampede.  The Stampede Rodeo event happens in early July of each year.  If you are looking for ranch properties that offer some timber parcels and farm properties, you can find many parcels along the Palmer Junction road and the Cricket Flat area.  Elgin is also proud of the Elgin Opera House and most recently the Eagle Cap Excursion Train opened up for rides along the scenic river.

Imbler Oregon Real Estate

The town of Imbler, known as the "Grass Seed Capital of the World", is located in Union County, Oregon and is one of a number of small, friendly communities nestled along the sides of the Grand Ronde Valley.  Imbler is home to the Imbler High School.  Imbler has a long tradition of supporting their schools, both academic and their athletic program.   You can find large farm operations in the area.  Some of the more high value crops are grown in the area.  At time these fields were apple fields.  Many of these crops were shipped out by the railroad.  You can also find same acreage properties along the foothills.  Imbler also has a nice convenient store that the area residents enjoy patronizing. North Powder Oregon Real Estate

North Powder, Oregon, is a homey community located halfway between La Grande and Baker City. The community was named for the North Powder River, which boarders the town.  North Powder is home to the North Powder schools which has a rich history supporting their sports program.  The area farmers grow wheat, seed potatoes, alfalfa hay and some mint crops.  There are two reservoirs that provide a great water source for irrigation.  There are also a number of cattle ranch properties in the area also.   More...

 

Summerville Oregon Real Estate

Located at the north end of the Grande Ronde Valley, Summerville was an important early commercial and trading center, serving as a stage stop for the George Thomas coach line.   Summerville continued to grow during the Oregon Trail Days.  At one time it was the largest community in the county.  Summerville also made an attempt to have the railroad line pass through the town, but the town´s people were not successful.  There was also a sawmill and the small creek that runs close by was named Mill Creek.  Today the Summerville Store is the only commercial enterprise.  The store offers a great convenient store for groceries, gas and a tavern.

Union Oregon Real Estate

Situated on the banks of Catherine Creek and at the entrance to northeast Oregon's Grande Ronde Valley, Union is the gateway to both the Eagle Cap Wilderness and the Catherine Creek State Park.  Union offers a large commercial downtown area.  These commercial properties offer great visibility for the out of town shoppers.  There are also a large number of historical homes in Union that were built during the turn of 20th century.  Most of these historic homes are a Victorian style.  Union is also home the Eastern Oregon Live Stock Show.  This event is held in the first week of June.  There are a number of small acreage properties around the Union area.  Most of the area farmers crow wheat, mint, seed potatoes and alfalfa hay.  Union also has a great schools system.  More...
